Polat Holding and BASE, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey with a sculpture and public art project, inaugurated the "Together and Towards the Future" 100th Year Exhibition on October 26 at Piyalepaşa Çarşı with a gala event. The exhibition will be open to art enthusiasts until November 12 at Piyalepaşa Çarşı, Istanbul's new art and gastronomy destination.
In honor of the value Atatürk, the founder of the Republic, attributed to art, the "Together and Towards the Future" 100th Year Exhibition, realized in collaboration between Polat Holding and BASE, commenced with an opening event held at HAN Spaces Piyalepaşa on Thursday evening.
The opening of the exhibition, hosted by Adnan Polat, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Polat Holding, was attended by Haydar Ali Yıldız, Mayor of Beyoğlu, and leading figures from the art and business world. Speaking at the opening, Mayor Haydar Ali Yıldız emphasized the significance of art and artists for the Republic and also discussed the importance of Beyoğlu in the struggle for independence.
Addressing the guests at the event, Adnan Polat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Polat Holding, stated:
"Today, we welcome you to Piyalepaşa, a region with a 500-year history, known for its artistic and architectural works. As Polat, we have embedded art in the heart of our business in Piyalepaşa Çarşı, in line with the artistic infrastructure of the region. As you know, Piyalepaşa Çarşı is home to eight modern art galleries. Our collaboration with Base Istanbul, which brought us together today, carries a special meaning for us. Because today, all together, we are here to celebrate our Republic, which has placed art at the center of civilization for a full 100 years, and to remember our Great Leader, Atatürk, who valued art and artists immensely."
The "Together and Towards the Future" 100th Year Exhibition, organized by Polat Holding and BASE, involved an open call for artists across Turkey. Hundreds of applications were carefully reviewed by a jury consisting of prominent figures in the art world, such as Oktay Duran (ArtON, Doğançay Museum, and Contemporary Istanbul Advisory Board), Dursun Gündoğdu (gallerist, DG Art Project), Elif Jalili (painter and sculptor), Erdil Yaşaroğlu (cartoonist and sculptor), and Moiz Zilberman (businessman and collector, founder of Gallery Zilberman). Fourteen sculptures and installations suitable for open spaces were selected from the received applications, forming the "Together and Towards the Future" 100th Year Exhibition, which can be visited at Piyalepaşa Çarşı until November 12.
As part of the exhibition, works such as Ercan Yılmaz's "100th Year Enthusiasm," Rojbin Yolcu's "Utopian Will," Beyzanur Soyer's "Recognize Me from My Shadow," Aslan Nayeb's "Wisdom," Nurcan Kır's untitled piece, Burcu Günay's "Table," R. Nur Özel's "Vertebra/Spine," Rabia Şeremetli's "This World is not on the Horns of the Ox, This World is on Your Hands," Saltık Doğa Özsar's "Enduring," Eda Çiftçi's "Freedom Birds," Şule Yılmaz's untitled, Fatoş Dikenova's "People," İlyas Arapoğlu's "Hope," Celal Yunus Emre Avcı's "Graveyard Selvisi Icon," along with Mert Ege Köse's monumental sculpture, will be showcased for art enthusiasts.
